Does anybody remember a ladies clothes shop onthe High Street called The Boud or The Bowd?
What year did it close?
Who owned it?
Also- what was the name of the homebrew shop nearby?

Re: Shops on High StreetI remember it as 'The Bowd', purely because it was so near to my own surname
It was the shop which has recently been an estate agents, the same building was originally the 'Hand & Banner' pub Steven Dowd Newton-le-Willows : Website Owner / Administrator

Re: Shops on High StreetThe homebrew shop was called Temples, it was where the dentist is now
Re: Shops on High StreetThe home brew shop was Temples, run by husband & wife ,he ran the home brew side she ran a sort of upmarket kitchenware side,-probably a bit ahead of its time! A really lovely couple & a right pair of charecters as i seem to remember
I thought The Bowd was a bit further along? as Temples was the first shop after tThe Pied Bull? Regards Dave
Re: Shops on High StreetWe used to buy our home brew supplies from Temples. It was quite an up market establishment as it used to host wine and cheese tasting evenings as well. Think it was home made wines they sampled.
The couple were very friendly and accomodating. I think he had to retire due to ill health and then they sold the shop. That must have been about 1993 or there about's. Vonnie
